MAY

Up until this past week this year has felt wildly out of control. Not for any particular reason that I can figure, but I'm chalking it up to the year of the Monkey. Still seeking a sense of harmony between work life, social life, and creative life.

This month I've been making a conscious effort to regain a feeling of control, of balance. I've been waking up before the sun and taking the extra one or two hours to right myself in the world – walk my dog, prepare breakfast, tidy the apartment, read. It's a tiny thing but has helped enormously. I got rid of the clock in my room and try to leave my computer at work and phone at home when I can. Feels good to remove myself from time.
